Meeting Notes (Friday, 11/7/08) ----------------------------------------- In Attendance: Corey Mubariz Istvan Ryan Terry Boyd Terry Brown Dustin David Felix Freeson Don Maria Arjun ----------------------------------------- 5:30pm ----------------------------------------- Meeting began with James and Ryan capturing footage from "Lecture Porn" viral video. Members trickled in and soon everyone was in the editing room. Ryan discussed equipment that the Film Club may buy with its budget, including a portable greenscreen and a full-body greenscreen suit. Other proposed purchases included a thing to put a filter/softener on our lights. Eventually the capturing was done and everyone filed out into the main room at around 5:50pm. Ryan told everyone to sign in on a sheet and put down their T-shirt size. We will be making club t-shirts and everyone will get one if they pay a $10 membership fee. Ryan also brought up the Insomnia 24-hour filmmmaking event (on 11/15?). A proposal to break into teams of five to work on it. Prize includes a MacBook Pro for everyone in group with Final Cut. Members were urged to sign up for the ProBoards site that Freeson created (http://cmufilmclub.proboards.com), as it would facilitate inter-club communication. Casting for "Sheep Cheese" is mostly set, except for child actors, according to Ryan. Next Friday there will be casting with the child actor(s). Female actor is supposed to be very good. 4-5 males auditioned, but no stand-outs. However, one male fits role sufficiently. Everyone clapped to award Freeson for his initiative on Viral Videos. Then James for taking meeting notes. Then Terry (Boyd) for actually coming to a meeting. Ryan started running through roles on Sheep Cheese. Sound: James, Terry Lighting: David? Producer: Lighting Camera: Felix First shoot: Saturday, 11/22/08 - Crew - noon - Actors - 2:00pm - May take up to 5 hours or so - Lunch will be provided - Probably will be a lot of setup - Cameraman will be most important crewmember after setup - Sound will be direct through BeachTec Possible attendees: Don, Istvan Ryan mentioned what a good time the filming of the first viral video was. Freeson was told to bulk up. Freeson was asked to comment on how he thought the process went, other ideas, when he'd like to film another one, etc. He felt that other people should come up with ideas, because he doesn't want endeavor to be dominated by him only. (Kitten is really cute. Everyone likes playing with it.) Freeson's remaining idea is "Amy the Activist." Back to Insomnia. We have two cameras, but only one external microphone. Ryan and Terry mentioned that CFA has cameras to be rented. Contest is student-only; submissions are 3 minutes max. Members asked if they wanted to volunteer to be captains of team. James, Don volunteered. Don, Freeson, Maria, Mubariz, Terry, Bruce, Felix, Arjun, Dustin all want to be a part of this. Terry has his own semi-team already. Contest runs 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday. Team A: James, Felix, Mubariz, Dustin, David (can't help till > 5pm) Team B: Don, Bruce, Arjun, Freeson, Istvan Team Terry: Terry, Other Guy, Ryan People started to get up to leave meeting. Ryan started to wrap up proceedings. Meeting basically adjourned. James brought up status of StuGov commercial. No one really knows. James proposed filming intro this weekend. David and James brought up point that project keeps getting put back every week. Shoot intro to commercial on Sunday at 9:00pm, meet at club. - David, Maria (maybe), Terry Brown, Dustin James brought up idea of getting lavalier mics. Ryan said he'd look into it. Meeting officially ended at 6:30pm.
