Meeting Notes (Friday, 11/14/08) ----------------------------------------- In Attendance: James Mubariz Terry Brown Freeson Maria Ryan DKL Dustin Felix ----------------------------------------- 5:30pm ----------------------------------------- James started the meeting. Viral Video Ideas: ------------------------- Guy singing his terrible song to his girlfriend. - Crossdressed? Leaked faculty meeting. Administration talking about something weird. Funny faculty research or experiment. - Alcohol study? - experimenter gets drunk? Accidently turning on webcam and recording themselves doing something. - picking nose? IM Game - getting really mad at student ref? - floor hockey, hand shuffleboard, badminton? Guy going to health services for something funny and filming it Isomnia Film Fest postponed until "after the holidays" due to technical difficulties, so club will not be participating this Saturday. Ryan arrived late (but notified James beforehand). Ryan mentioned internships at Pittsburgh Film Office (helps when outside companies come to Pittsburgh to shoot films); Steeltown Entertainment (Ryan is working here now and says they have more positions available. Works with My Tale of Two Cities/Saved By the Bell guy); Silkscreen Film Fest (Asian festival; said they'd help out our festival if we helped out them -- not sure we need the extra help, though). Wondering out loud how we could trade volunteer effort (or something else) between our STUFF festival and Silkscreen. Ryan said he ordered $546 dollars of equipment for club: - Green screen - Attachment for lights to hold gels - Books - Green screen suit DKL threw out idea about getting some really good lighting book that they have at Filmmakers that is pricy (~$100). Asked James to ask his instructor at Filmmakers about this lighting book. Discussion about Filmmakers courses, etc. Ryan talked about shoot planned for his film next Saturday (11/22) starting at 12:00am noon. Maria brought up idea of making short film for Focus the Nation about death, destruction, end of world for global warming. Ryan asked her to bring a treatment at next meeting or to post it on the online boards. Shooting details would also be appreciated. Felix kept making annoying high-pitched harmonic sound by tapping pencil to metal valve above "danger chair." Freeson asked about what happened to Insomnia FF. Some discussion about whether we should prepare for it beforehand (when it actually takes place). Freeson talked about the idea he posted for this on the boards. Ryan talked about actors lined up for his film. Still a problem with the male lead -- don't know which actor to choose yet. Choice between better guy who might not be available or worse guy who could definitely be here. After much deliberation, decided to go with Pittsburgh guy over Ohio guy. Switching to the film fest ... who (local companies) can sponsor us? Some guy Nick in MEIM who wants to help. Ask for: - monetary donations - advertising - food, supplies? Possibilities: - School of Art - Giant Eagle - Pgh. Filmmakers - Steeltown- American Apparel - Avalon - Coldstone - American Eagle - Gullifty's - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - City Paper - The Tartan - Tribune-Review - Theaters - Coffee shops - 61C Cafe (Ryan said Fox News; James asked if he was serious; decided to be too "extreme" and edited out) - Lulu's Noodles - Stuff on Walnut Street - Apple (uh, yeah ...... probably not) Advertising Ideas: - Facebook - Myspace - Flixster - YouTube - regular commercials in addition to Viral Vids - flyers in local businesses - papers? Need to have people to do some good public relations-type stuff. We need to party more! Need to get money from special allocations too. When should we shoot the next viral video? Voting: - Sunday (11/16) - Sunday (11/23) <-- Won! Meeting effectively adjourned at 6:55pm.
