Films for Filmmakers series
Last night, we launched our new Films for Filmmakers series. The film was The Five Obstructions by Lars von Trier and Jorgen Leth. We turned the film club into a microcinema for the evening to watch Danish director Lars von Trier
attempt to psychoanalyze his hero, filmmaker Jorgen Leth by challenging him to remake an experimental film from the 60’s five times. Each time, von Trier gave some set of obstructions to overcome. It’s a really inspiring movie, especially for young filmmakers who face obstructions from limited resources every time they start a new project. The film shows how creativity can flourish under constraint.
We will be continuing this series every other Monday at 8:00. The details of the next showing are as follows:
Krystof Kieslowski’s Camera Buff, 8:00pm Feb 18, at the Film Club
